The Past Five Months

Kaitlyn is now six months old! She's such a sweetheart and Ben and I (and everyone else we know) just love her to bits. She has been rolling around for the past couple of months and I think we can now say she is officially crawling. She had her scooting down but I'm pretty sure I saw a legitimate crawl last night. So now we have the fun task of baby-proofing!

Since so much has happened in the last five months I will just post some highlights.

In April, Ben's younger sister, Megan, graduated from BYU-Hawaii so we decided we had to go and see her. We actually started planning this trip before I became pregnant and almost weren't going to go when we found out. After we figured out she would only be a couple of months old and still in her mostly sleeping all day phase we decided we'd be ok. We went with Ben's parents and aunt and uncle and we met up with his older sister, Tiffany, and her husband, Craig.

We spent a day at the Polynesian Cultural Center and it was a lot of fun. Megan's friends work there and we got some special treatment at one of the villiages and on our canoe ride. It was a neat experience and a beautiful place. Definitely one of the best parts of the trip.

Kaitlyn's first dip in the ocean. A wave came and scared her so she wasn't very impressed with the whole experience.

Hawaii was great. It was sometimes a challenge being there with a two month old but overall Kaitlyn did awesome and we had a good time.

Memorial Day

This was Kaitlyn's first time camping. Although, I don't think we can count it since we just drove up both days. We didn't think sleeping in a tent with a three month old would go very well.

In July my sister, Marcia, and her two boys, Ayden and Brady, and my grandpa came to visit my parents. They decided to come see me in Boise for the day and we went to the Zoo.

We had breakfast with the lions. Very cool.

Kaitlyn rode a tiger just like her daddy did on our first date. His tiger was a little bit bigger though.

Before church. She takes the Sabbath very seriously. Ben on the other hand is trying to give her bunny ears in the back...

In May, Ben blessed Kaitlyn. I'm so happy to have a worthy Priesthood holder in our home and it was a great day full of family and friends.

Our friends, Natalie and Tyler, have an awesome camera and were kind enough to do a little photo shoot for us.

These six months have been full of laughter and tears, joy and hardships but most of all love. We love our little girl more than we could ever express. She is such a sweet baby, always ready with a smile for us and everyone she meets.

I can't believe that tomorrow little Kaitlyn will be a month old. She's gotten so big already I can barely remember how tiny she was.

We had an awesome photographer come over when Kaitlyn was two weeks old and we got some amazing pictures.

Kaitlyn Maria Weaver was born on Wednesday, February 16, at 11:14AM. She weighed 5 lbs 14 oz and was 19 in long. She's such a good baby so far and we love her to pieces :)

Well, it's 4 AM and in an effort to not throw up for the eleventh time tonight I decided to be a little bit productive. The dishes are almost done and now I think I'll work on a blog post that I've been meaning to do for awhile.

I'm finally starting to show enough that people actually know I'm pregnant and not just eating too many donuts. My favorite comment was a couple of weeks ago... "I didn't know you were pregnant. You look the same." Really?! I've gained 20 pounds!!! How do I look the same?

It has been a blessing to not have to buy very much maternity clothes yet though. I'm still going strong with just a couple of pairs of maternity pants and shirts. Of course I have to use a rubberband on my old pants but as long as no one else can tell I don't care :)

Projects

I thought I would share a couple of the projects we worked on this summer. Can I just say that I love having a husband who is willing to try stuff out and be crafty?

This thing used to be brown and ugly but with some spray paint and glaze it's now my favorite piece of furniture. We also did the same thing to our coffee table but it's a little messy right now and I really don't want to clean it up.

I almost forgot I had a blog... Ok not really. I've been using my SD drive as an excuse to not update. It really is broken so I haven't been able to upload any new pictures but I guess that pictures aren't completely necessary... The last year has been really good to Ben and I. We have been blessed in many ways, the biggest of which is that I'm pregnant :) I'm already 5 months but I really don't feel very pregnant. I'm not showing very much (which I'm kindly reminded of almost daily at work) and I haven't really felt sick. The only thing that's different is that I can definitely feel the baby kicking. I'm pretty convinced that he/she was having a dance party today because it was non-stop for awhile there. It's all very surreal actually. I have another human inside me? What? I'm hoping that when we find out if it's a boy or a girl things will start to sink in a little more. Monday is the big day! Hopefully baby cooperates.

Summer Fun

What can I say? I'm a lazy blogger. Mostly because I never take pictures and really that's the best part about a blog. So, since it's October, I figured I better catch up on the summer stuff. We mostly worked this summer but there were a few fun things mixed in. We went boating a few times with our good friends Tyler and Natalie (no pictures, of course) and I got to go rafting on the Payette with the Mia Maids which was super fun (again, no pictures). But I did take a few photos so here's a short recap.

My sister, Marcia, and her boys, Ayden and Brady, came to visit my parents. So, Ben and I drove down to spend a day with them.

This is one of the few times I could get them to both face the camera at the same time. Ayden was not too happy about having his picture taken and Brady was in his own happy world.

We went to Shoshone Falls and it was amazing this year. Ayden kept calling the mist "fire" and somewhere he picked up the phrase, "Oh my goodness, this is terrible!" so the whole drive down the canyon he was saying that.

The 4th of July was fun as usual. We went to good old Middleton and got to sit right under the fireworks. The best part was that halfway through the sprinklers came on! At first, all we heard was the noise. It was a familiar sound but we couldn't quite place it and even after we started feeling little drops of water hitting us it still took a second to register. It was funny to see 30 people scrambling to get off their blankets and save their belongings. I've never seen Ben's dad move so fast!

Ben's sister, Tiffany, and her family visited this summer from South Carolina and to start their vacation off right we all went camping at Baumgartner Campground.

We were right on the Boise River and it was freezing!!! We jumped in but it was the kind of cold that hurts so we had to jump right back out. It was fun though!

We took a little walk on the nature trail they had near our camp. It was beautiful and this tree was my favorite part. It was really old and really leaning.

There were a few more undocumented (by me) adventures:

My friends Tiffany and Chris came to visit on their Temple Tour.

We went camping for Labor Day with Ben's family.

I got a new job - not really a picture taking moment but definitely worth a mention.

And my parents went to the Azores for 3 weeks! (OK, so that one has nothing to do with me but I did get a postcard so, I feel like I have the right to mention it).

Memorial Day

Every Memorial Day Ben's family goes camping at Swinging Bridge Campground and luckily we've been able to go the last 3 years. Pam (Ben's mom) always reserves 3 spots right next to each other months in advance so that we have enough room for everyone. Some of us set up our tents and stay the whole weekend and others come up to visit just for the day.

This year was a little different...

Pam reserved the spots but the camp host decided he didn't want to do his job and never put up the reserved signs for us. When we got there 2 of our spots were taken. Of course we went searching for the camp host but he was no where to be found. Ben and I ended up driving back to Eagle to print off proof that we had reserved the spots but we got back late so we decided to wait until morning to figure everything out. The first night we had 7 people and 4 dogs sleeping in 1 camper. It was... cozy. The next morning Ben and his dad went everywhere they could think of to find a camp host or ranger but there was no one and when we showed the people in our spots the proof that we had reserved the spots MONTHS ago they flat out said that they didn't care and weren't leaving... I guess I shouldn't have been shocked to encounter such rude people but I was.

The only thing we had going in our favor was that Aunt Donna and Uncle Rob weren't able to make it this time so there weren't as many of us as usual. After deciding that the other campers were a waste of time we made the best of our vacation and had a good time.

These guys were so cute we went back another day and saw them.

We had to hike up and down mountainsides to get to this lighthouse, on gravel and dirt paths, in the rain. When we got there... it was locked! They don't even let people in after all the hard work to get there.

I would move to Oregon for the caterpillars alone.

So, it looks like I finally figured out how to create a blog. I'm not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing! I've been hesisitant to start one because, well, our life is just not that exciting. I guess our visitors will just have to be ok with being bored :) I'll post some pictures of the recent goings-on just so we'll have something for everyone to look at.
